Old Soldiers Never Die

picture of war veteran, remembrance sunday, south shields

Veteran

This old campaigner looks lost in thought during the service at the Cenotaph, Westoe, South Shields. The service was conducted by the Revd. Paul Kennedy, Vicar of St. Michael and all Angels, Westoe.

Comments:
This may be a repeat. I think it's a great portrait: the man's face is full of character, and the medals are awesome, too. Impressive.

This photo is really moving...The older gentleman looks lost in thought and I love that you can see the pinkness in the cheeks of the young man on the other side of him. Very well done.

Yes, I agree, a great human shot. I don't know how you did the effect of b&w around him, but it's very effective.

Thanks for your comments.
Ruth, it's fairly simple in Photoshop or Paintshop Pro, to make a selection around the subject, then desaturate everything outside of the selection. I like playing around to get differing effects.
